Can anyone please explain Brians' fascination with Iron Chef and this man?

I never really understood why Brian liked the "Iron Chef" as well. He used to dvr that show religiously and root for various chefs and critique them like a sports analyst. "Oh, this guy sucks. I can cook fish better them him." Or, Brian would call me up to tell me what the "magic ingredient was." Brian loved food - especially gourmet (pronounced by him as "gore-met".) My dad used to say "Brian learned to read by reading the right side of the menu." I bet he is eating massive quantities of foie gras, cheese curds, and dover sole right now.
